Restoring Biological Balance
Sodium hyaluronate (Ostenil) exists naturally in the synovial fluid of joints and is continuously broken down and replaced. Normally, there is an exact balance between the breakdown of old sodium hyaluronate and the production of new sodium hyaluronate.
In Osteoarthritis however, this balance is disturbed...
Breakdown happens faster than production. As a result, hyaluronic acid in the synovial fluid becomes diluted and stops working properly, leading to pain and stiffness.
Ostenil injected into the space in a joint works by restoring the normal balance between the breakdown and production of sodium hyaluronate, effectively providing "lubrication" for smoother movement.
Ostenil restores the healthy biological equilibrium of the synovial fluid.
Treating Osteoarthritis and Tendon Disease
Any Joint
Osteoarthritis, "wear and tear" arthritis, can affect almost any joint but most commonly effects the knees, hips and small joints of the hands.
The Alternative
Hyaluronic acid is an effective alternative treatment to steroid injections for osteoarthritis of joints and also more recently tendon disease.
Guided Precision
Such injections are undertaken under ultrasound guidance to confirm the correct region is injected for maximum effectiveness.

Verified Experiences with Ostenil
"Consulting Dr Rae at Sports Medicine NE was one of the best decisions I’ve made. When my knee pain threatened to stop me doing the things I enjoy I knew it was time to find a solution... I had the treatment (Ostenil plus) and have been delighted with the results and I know that Dr Rae will provide continuing support should I need it."

"A consultation with Dr Rae allowed us to establish what I wanted an Ostenil injection for, that is, so I can put off ankle surgery for advanced osteoarthritis and continue to participate in sports I enjoy. Dr Rae used ultrasound to carefully assess the best site for the Ostenil Plus injection into my ankle. I have had little ankle pain since the injection and will certainly return to Dr Rae for further Ostenil treatment."
