Back Pain

Back pain is a very common problem which will effect most people at some point in their lives... We will diagnose and offer treatment for back pain ranging from a milder annoying pain to more disabling pain such as sciatica.

Osteoarthritis

'Wear and tear' arthritis, can affect almost any joint... Simple measures such as weight loss and simple analgesia are often sufficient... Other treatments such as steroid injections and hyaluronic acid injections can also greatly help.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis occurs when the capsule surrounding the ball and socket joint of the shoulder becomes inflamed and thickened.

Tennis / Golfers Elbow

Caused by wearing of the tendons as it attaches to the bone on inside or outside of the elbow.

Shoulder Impingement

Causes pain and often weakness to the shoulder as tendons of the rotator cuff are 'nipped' within the shoulder.

Treatments and Rehabilitation

Analgesia

Analgesia should be prescribed which is specific for the type of injury or condition present. Analgesia varies from simple analgesia to Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory medication and neuropathic analgesia.

Specific Exercise Programs

Evidence based exercise programs such as eccentric exercise regimens for tendon problems will be demonstrated and implemented.

Hyaluronic Acid (Ostenil)

Ostenil injected into the space in a joint works by restoring the normal balance between the breakdown and production of sodium hyaluronate.

Hydrodistension

The injection consists of steroid and local anaesthetic injection along with a larger volume of sterile saline to be injected under ultrasound guidance distend the 'stuck down' capsule.
