Dry Needling and Autologous Blood Injections

Regenerative Therapy
for Tendon Pain

Stimulating the body's nature healing response

Tendon problems can be a difficult problem to treat in athletes and non-athletes alike. We offer advanced injection therapies to stimulate healing of the damaged tendon.

Understanding Tendon Disease

Tendinopathy refers to a failure of the normal healing process in a tendon resulting in areas of abnormal structure which generates pain.

Such conditions as tennis elbow, golfers elbow, achilles or patellar tendon problems of the knee are due to a degenerative or wear and tear problem of the tendon rather than an inflammatory problem.

Ultrasound Guided
Dry Needling

Dry needling for tendon problems such as tennis elbow and achilles tendinopathy, involves repeatedly introducing a fine needle in to an abnormal tendon under local anaesthetic.

Dry needling under ultrasound guidance to diseased tendons allows the abnormal insertion into bone to be treated triggering the healing of such tendon problems.

Dry Needling Procedure

How Dry Needling Stimulates Repair

1

It creates further mild trauma to the abnormal area to stimulate healing.

2

Bleeding caused releases growth factors in and around the tendon to promote healing further.

Autologous
Blood Injections

A patients own blood can be injected into a diseased tendon to stimulate a healing effect within the tendon.

Conditions such as Patellar or Achilles tendinopathy along with tennis and golfers elbow can benefit from autologous blood injections which stimulate healing of the damaged tendon.

Autologous Blood Injection Therapy

The Injection Process

01

A blood sample is taken form the patient’s arm.

02

The blood is then injected along with local anaesthetic into the damaged tendon.

03

One theory as to why this treatment works is that growth factor, contained within the blood, triggers healing of the diseased tendon.
